At the bottom of this page I have left the asnwers to this weeks reading and questions (comprehension) based on Anne Frank. I will put up new readings and questions for Wednesday morning.
You can write the answers into your English copies. There is no need to print these pages.
Reading –Continue to read your books from the library and keep up the book reviews. I am looking forward to reading your book reviews and hearing about your books when we return or again you can email me them if you'd like me top read them now.
I will post up a link for you to access E-books (online books) on Oxfordowl.co.uk. Please create an account with an email address to access these books. Its free to join! https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/books/free-ebooks/
Before reading: Discuss the author, illustrator, title of the book and the blurb.
Remember our Building Bridges strategies and actions that we have been learning to help us understand what we are reading. So far we have learned how to:
-Make predictions (thinking about what might happen before and during reading).
-Make connections (thinking about how the text relates to ourselves, another book/film or the wider world).
-Visualise (creating images in our minds about the story).
-Declunk (If you don't understand a word you're reading you can declunk it! Break it up, peel back the word or use a dictionary).
-Question (ask questions about the text before, during and after reading).
-Clarify (asking for further information about the text).
Please listen to your child read and practice using these strategies (They will be familiar with all of them!).

Creative writing
You can check back to last weeks creative writing on the website if you havn't finished your story on 'Stuck'. Well done to those who sent me their piece of writing. To those who havn't sent me something please try if you have access to an email account.
This week you are going to write a narrative story. The idea of your story is ‘Through the Doorway’. Where is the doorway? What type of door is it? Perhaps your character will find something on the other side of the door or maybe the door will be locked.
Think about the following:
- Who are you characters?
- Where is your story set?
- What is the problem or complication and how will it be solved?
- How will your story end?
Remember to:
- Plan your story with a beginning, middle and end.
- Organise your ideas into paragraphs.
- Write in sentences.
- Choose your words carefully to entertain your readers so that it isn’t always starting with same word like we did in class – different sentence openers.
- Pay attention to your spelling and punctuation.
- Check and edit your work carefully.
- You can type this on your laptop and send it to me or send me a picture of your work if you’ve access to an email account.
Watch news2day everyday – just type in news2day into google and watch the latest episode. After, write down 6 questions based on the episode using the following words: How, What,Where, Who, Why,When.
I hope you’re all still writing your diaries into your English copies. It’s ok if you’ve missed a few days but try do as many days as you can – it’ll be interesting to read back in years to come about what you did during this time. Pay particular focus to your grammar and don't forget to date it.
